What I wanted to do when I got home today, guys, was move the Saturn out behind the house, clean my garage, and then move the Crown Vic over behind the garage and mess around with it.

What I’m doing is trying to get the fucking Saturn to start.

The last time I ran that car, it had a full interior in it...now it’s stripped down to a shell, and I never even thought to try and start it when I pulled everything out of it. For the life of me I can’t think of anything that would have been in there that would be causing the car to not start, so it’s possible that this is just a weird coincidence. But it seems a bit too convenient (or inconvenient, really) for that to me.

Clearly I’m no Saturn expert, but what the hell could there be in there that would cause this? When I turn the key, I get all my lights, the fuel pump runs, I don’t even get a security light. Turn the key, no click except a relay, and when I release the key I hear what sounds like the starter solenoid pulling back in.

My dad is going to come over after dinner and we’ll try to pop start it, at which point it’s either the ignition switch or the starter itself. It’s just weird, the car ran great last time I was messing with it, and now nothing. I really wish it could just go to plan ONE TIME.

5 speed, I checked the clutch switch, it's still plugged in.

Starter motor is stuck. Probably from corrosion from sitting?

It ran fairly recently, maybe a month ago. I'd imagine it has to be that or the ignition switch.

Bang on the starter with a hammer/wrench and try it again.

I wanted to, but I couldn't get at the starter. On the Saturn it's on the back side of the engine under the intake manifold...maybe tomorrow I'll throw it up on jack stands and see if I can do something with it. Though I'll probably just try to pop start it, to rule out that anything I unhooked is causing the issue.

‘97 SL2, yeah. 5 speed. It's weird, all the lights come on and the fuel pump cycles, I can hear a relay click, then when I let go of the key there's a small thud from under hood. I'm probably overthinking it because I tore the interior out of the car and it's just the starter.
